Sourcing Pros and Costumes.

My models will be wearing the simular desgin of tee shirt shown here. The colours will be the same shown in these pictures above and below. This tee shirt will be what my male model will wear, its fitted around the body and the colours are slightly different to the female models tee shirt. I made sure my models already had simular clothing to these so I didn't have to buy any more. These are a couple of pictures I found on the internet which I would like my models to buy or if they have their own at home. I love the colours and stripes, it makes a real effective 'sailor' like costume without being too distinctive that its supposed to be sailor. Because I dont't want my readers to think thats their stereotype. Here I drew a few sketches to show the exact costume which I want my models to wear. I have included a few ezaggerated accessories like the big bow in rachels hair and the red sunglasses which lauren in wearing. They look stylish and slick. This will relate to my traget audience as they will look up to them if they have the new fashions or even new fashion will start off.

Flat Plans.

Here's my flat plans for my magazine product; double page spread, contents page and front cover. Even though my flat plans dont include much colour, this is because I haven't yet decided on the set colour scheme at this point. What I do know is that most of the colours will include, red, black and white.

I chose to include the three artists in the band instead of focusing just on one main person. This is becuase on most music magazine's they focus on the 'band'. Such as...
'Kerrang'

'NME'

I have chosen my band to wear sailor themed costumes as the location I have chosen to set in is at the beach. By adding a couple of exaggerated accessories it makes the audience focus more one the models. I liked the long shot of my band as you can see all of them and most magazines use medium shots for the front covers, but I like how this image has worked and it creates a stereostype for the particular band.
The dominant image i have used for the front cover will be enlarged as at the moment the page looks too blank. I will also include pictures from other varietys of bands which will attract a different genre of an audience with the choice of band I will choose.

Facebook Audience Research.

I used a social networking site to gain some audience feedback for the photoshoot I had just done. I used Facebook as it was a easier way to upload my picture into a sepcific album. I first made a focus group but people didnt tend to comment on things which I put in there, but this could of been becuase it wasnt advetised as much. So I decided to create my own photo album which just included pictures from my AS work and the process I had achieved.

Above is the pictures that I uploaded onto my Facebook page. They included most of my shots which I took in the studio and shots which I took at my main location Saltburn beach. I then made them visable on my facebook and left a comment so everyone could see that I had uploaded them and wanted pepole to comment. I also asked specific people from my target audience to comment so I could get a good idea on what they liked about them and things I could change. This could help me with the production of my work as I am aiming my product for a specific audience and if they dont like what they see then no sales will be done.

This is the outcome I got on some of my photos. The comments and 'likes' were really benificial as I could thens tart to make changes in the pictures and choose the best quality ones which could feature in my print products.

Textual Research.

Prelim Task.

I did a task to start me off on getting the feel to create my own magazine by doing Prelim magazine front cover and contents page. I had to create a front cover for a 'college' magazine, featuring a photograph of a student or collegue in a medium close up shot and appropriately laid-out text and a masthead and little details which are featured in a magazine.
To get us started we took a few pictures using a didgital camera to get used to the facilities and the type of shots we were supposed to be taking.

Overal I think I captured the codes and conventions of a real magazine quite effectily. Using the appropriate medium shot of my student made the magazine look more realistic and also layering the text behind the dominant image made it look professional. In addition to this I used simular colours to which our college website uses so it can relate more to the college and students and teachers would be able to reconise the magazine if it was published.

I think it fits the target audience accordenly (students and teachers) as i have used appropriate language on the front cover and contents page. I think if I was to do it again I would include more bolder texts on the front cover and extra pictures to intise the readers to read further. The contents page's text could of related more to the front cover of the magazine as this would make it look more professional and maybe some over lapping of the text onto pictures.

I think I have learnt some new skills using photoshop but they can defiantly be improved further to when I come to produce my music magazine.
